5 sessions
- Photography 101
- Camera with manual functions
- Tripod if you have one (preferred, but not essential) If you do not have a tripod, DO NOT buy a cheap tripod beforehand. It will be a waste of money as cheaper tripods can in no way give you the stability you need for longer exposures.
- Long lenses are nice, but not essential
- Bean bags are handy, but not essential
- A Flash is handy, but not essential
- We suggest that you bring water, sunblock and snacks for the shooting days
The aim of this workshop is to teach the basic principals of location scouting (according to safe setup, background, light/time of day and action) before setting up for a day of sport shooting. During the theory session we will also look at other preparations for a day of shooting as well as practical shooting techniques.
On the shooting days, we will be practicing the techniques learnt in the theory sessions, as well as new techniques (depending on our locations) We hope to be able to shoot at least the following:
High speed races
Water sport (swimming)
Limited action: Tennis
These three sports require different shooting techniques (Racers usually run pretty parallel lines, but at high speed. Swimming is parallel and slow, but low to the ground and has water interference. Tennis has normal height shooting, but movement is fast and not parallel to the film plane)
We will also be looking at “alternative” shots during a sportsshooter day
- Course Notes
- CD (with Full Colour manual if you want to have your notes in colour, explanatory images and video clips)
- Tea and coffee in Theory sessions
- Models for the Tennis and Swimming Shoots
- Entry to the Trackday
