Wedding Day, South Africa - 2005
Workshop: Wedding Photography

Time: 3 sessions

Requirements:

  • Photography 101
  • Camera with manual functions
  • Tripod if you have one (preferred, but not essential) If you do not have a tripod, DO NOT buy a cheap tripod beforehand. It will be a waste of money as cheaper tripods can in no way give you the stability you need for longer exposures.
  • Long lenses are nice, but not essential
  • If you have a flash, it will be a big bonus (Again, not essential, but required if you are considering it a potential business)

Description:

This workshop will run through the basics of shooting a wedding in the style of a typical wedding photographer.

It starts with a theory session in which we discuss the problems facing a typical wedding photographer, things to keep in mind, before and on the day. Location scouting analyzing your location for lighting and potential portrait setting. We also look at how the environment influences the way your camera will react (types of materials, windows and mirrors, etc)

After our initial theory session, we will run an almost full day mock shoot of following the bride from hair and make-up all the way through to getting ready for the ceremony to begin.

From there we will go to an indoor or outdoor venue (depending on the weather) to shoot typical wedding style portraits.

This is a hands-on course and you will be shooting for most of the day, so be sure to bring some snacks and water

Materials Included:

  • Course Notes
  • CD (with Full Colour manual if you want to have your notes in colour, explanatory images and video clips)
  • Tea and coffee
  • Items to shoot
  • Model For shoot in Session 2 and 3
